Progressive Global Energy is recruiting for an experienced Distribution Engineer for a large American Gas and Electric utility holding company. Looking for a Sr. level Distribution Engineer or Mid-level with a minimum of 5 years experience as there is more than one opening.

Looking for candidates within a 2 hour drive of Birmingham, AL or candidates willing to relocate to the area for the position. Engineers can work from home for the role but need to be within the 2 hour radius of Birmingham, AL to be able to visit the surrounding sites. The engineer will make field visits 2-3 times per week, and mileage and drive time will be compensated.

This is a full-time, contract position with a minimum of 3 years work ahead on this project that will go direct hire or extend for a long-term contract. Competitive hourly rates with overtime at time and a half (lucrative overtime expected). We offer full benefits to our contract employees (medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO, etc.).

• Utility-related electrical distribution experience is required.
• Experience with using Company Power Delivery engineering computer/iOS applications is preferred (JETS, SOCKET, DistGIS, ESDA, iSwitch).
• Knowledge of NEC and NESC
• Knowledge of electrical distribution coordination schemes and reliability efforts is preferred
• Effectively communicate and work well with others
• Effective time management skills are required. This assignment will work under the direction of the local Engineering Supervisor but needs to be self-sufficient and work independently with little oversight
• Take ownership of assigned work
• Ability to apply sound engineering practices in providing reliable, economic and timely electric service to customers, required with proper time and experience
